Louie Bieman är klar för Göteborg HC
Hi Louie welcome as a new player in Gothenburg HC, how does it feel?
- Thank you, I'm very excited to be joining Gothenburg HC. It still feels a bit surreal that I'll be playing in Sweden this upcoming fall. I am very excited about this team and the vision management has for it and I cannot wait for the season to start.
Family; (also dogs age and breed)
- I come from a big family, there are my two parents Sean and Cathy, and then I have 5 siblings. They are Rebecca, Nathan, Jeremy, Sarah, and Jess.
Former clubs as players?
- My previous club was the University of Toronto Varsity Blues.
What will you bring to Gothenburg HC as a player and as a person?
- I will bring a competitive mindset, I love competing and challenging myself both as a player and a person. I am also a calm individual, so in the midst of difficulties I will be able to bring a calm and rational perspective to it.
Now you will be part of next year's squad, what qualities do you think are important in an ice hockey player?
- Having an open mindset as a player is extremely important as it allows you to continually develop and improve different skills. It allows you to understand your own limitations and what you need to work on as well as being open to receiving feedback from other players and coaches.
Göteborg HC has stated that we want to make a restart and build a team with a clear idea, how do you think about your role in building a team with a strong us?
- I think this is a very important aspect in a team, as the more cohesive a team is, both on and off the ice, the more it will strengthen their overall play. I am committed to doing what I can to help build this cohesiveness and being a part of Göteborg HC's future success.
What are you most looking forward to playing in our SDHL team?
- I'm excited to be playing on an international level, and getting to play with and against women from all over the world. I'm also very excited to be able to share this experience with my good friend and teammate from the University of Toronto.
What are your main strengths as a player?
- My biggest strength would be my hockey IQ and ability to read the play. Whether this is in the offensive or defensive zone, I am able to read the play and make quick decisions so as to take advantage of other team's mistakes or weaknesses.
What do you want to develop as a hockey player?
- I want to work on my ability to finish around the net. Being a playmaker I tend to look for the pass more then the shot, I would like to focus more on finishing skills so as to become a more dynamic and threatening player around the net.
What are your expectations for the coming season?
- I expect this upcoming year to be a challenging season, but one that will push us as a team and as individual players to perform at our highest level. There will be difficult moments as in any season, but I'm excited to see how these moments will allow us to improve.
Do you have a role model? Describe why.
- Yes, a former coach I had growing up was very influential to how I approach the game and life in general. He was very good at instilling life lessons through his coaching and I admire the way he was to balance challenging and pushing us as players while also truly caring about us as inviduals and the people we were becoming off the ice.
What is your passion?
- I would say hockey is my biggest passion, outside of it I love to read and explore new ideas and opportunities. Whether it is learning a new skill, or trying a new type of food, I really enjoy exploring and learning about different aspects of life.
